Helping our community

Wellington Zoo is a non-profit charitable trust and we rely on the generosity of individuals, sponsors and funders. This means we’re not in a position to provide free passes for raffles, spot prizes or auctions.
Wellington Zoo has made a commitment to support patients and families staying at the Ronald MacDonald House and the Wellington Hospitals and Health Foundation, as we feel this is where we can make our support go furthest.

Both the No. 10 and the No. 23 buses stop right outside the Zoo.
The No.10 starts at the Railway Station, and the No. 23 comes from Mairangi via the city.
You can find the timetables for the 10 and 23 at Metlink

bike or car

From the city, your car trip will take less than 10 minutes. Just follow the brown Zoo signs, or look for signs to Newtown.
If you’re on your bike – same goes, and there is a bike rack at the front of the Zoo.

how to find us

Wellington Zoo is in Newtown, about 10 minutes from the city. Find us on Google Maps.

There is limited free car parking around the Zoo so it’s a case of early bird catches the worm. You’ll find them right outside the Zoo or in the Newtown Park car park next door.

We also have four designated mobility car parks in the Newtown Park car park right next to the Zoo, and one right outside Mojo at the Zoo.
