Visitor Information
bus
The No. 23 buses stop right outside the Zoo.
This service runs from Wellington Station to the Zoo every hour on weekdays and weekends.
Alternatively, you can take one of the buses to the Wellington Hospital first (for example the No.1 and No. 3 ) and transfer at the Wellington Hospital hub (stop C).
You can find timetables and more details at Metlink.
bike or car
From the city, your car trip will take less than 10 minutes. Just follow the brown Zoo signs, or look for signs to Newtown.
If you’re on your bike – same goes, and there is a bike rack at the front of the Zoo.
how to find us
Wellington Zoo is in Newtown, about 10 minutes from the city. We are located at 200 Daniell Street, Newtown, Wellington 6021. Find us on Google Maps.
parking
There is limited free car parking around the Zoo so it’s a case of early bird catches the worm. You’ll find them right outside the Zoo or in the Newtown Park car park next door.
We also have four designated mobility car parks in the Newtown Park car park right next to the Zoo, and one right outside Rex tremendous at the Zoo.
