NZ Sign Language Week

Celebrate NZ Sign Language Week at the Zoo! 

Come and join one of two Guided Tours by our Zoo Rangers and a Sign Language Interpreter from Deaf Aotearoa to learn all about the amazing animals that live at Wellington Zoo. 

The 11am tour will meet at the Otter habitat by the entrance, before heading along the river trail to the New World Monkeys. The tour will finish up at our newest walk-through experience, Meet the Locals He Tuku Aroha where you’ll have the chance to get up close to Kororā Little Blue Penguins, Kunekune pigs, Sheep and Kea.

The 1pm tour will meet at the Chimpanzee habitat, and will visit the Meerkats on the way to Neighbours, the Australian walk-through experience. Keep an eye out for the Kangaroos, Wallabies and Emus who are wandering around as you go by the Dingo and Tasmanian Devils.

Prices: Tours are free but normal Zoo entry prices apply: Adults $23, Children (3-14 years) $11, Concession Holders $17, Caregivers free. 

Places are limited so get in quick to secure a spot!

WorkerBe Oasis - Self-watering Planters

Sunday 21 May

1:30- 2:30pm

Our Community Partner, WorkerBe Oasis run an urban farm in Newtown and will be helping visitors to make self-watering planters using recycled plastic bottles. If you keep forgetting to water your plants or you’re planning an extended holiday - this activity is perfect for you! Come and join us in Meet the Locals He Tuku Aroha on Sunday 21 May from 1.30pm.
